Casey McQuiston’s debut novel Red, White, and Royal Blue is a lively rom-com, packed with deep reflections and loads of humour. Set in the US three years after the election of the first female president, this novel follows the story of the first son Alex Claremont-Diaz.
Alex has his whole life mapped out. He has his heart set on being a politician and plans to be the youngest person elected in Congress by the age of thirty. But his plans are shaken when he is forced to befriend the Prince of England for the sake of promoting favourable international relationships.
Now the problem is they have always hated each other. Alex thinks of Prince Henry as a dull, conceited person who feels superior to everyone else around him. However, once he truly gets to know him, he discovers he has completely misjudged him. As they spend time together, they grow really close and develop an unexpected but inevitable relationship.

Personal Comments
I loved this book! It’s just so fun to read, the story is so clever, and the characters are amazing! Alex, Henry, June, Nora: they are all unique in their own way.
What I liked the most about it was how honest Alex and Henry were with each other. Despite all the obstacles they had to face, they managed to maintain a healthy, open relationship. They supported each other no matter what.
If you are looking for an enemies-to-lovers LGBT story, you should definitely read it! You can find it on Amazon.
