I loved reading this book. Set in the Queendom of Dharia, Third Daughter tells the story of Aniri, the youngest daughter of the Queen. Being only the third daughter, she has no royal or family responsibilities whatsoever. She is only the backup princess, in case one of her sisters’ marriages fails. After turning eighteen, she will be finally free to marry her charming fencing instructor.
Until she receives a completely unexpected marriage proposal from a barbarian prince in the north. Her dreams and hopes are suddenly crushed by the rumours of a flying weapon threatening to attack Dharia. If she wants to avoid war, she must accept the proposal, even if it means breaking her lover’s heart.
So she agrees to go with the prince with the secret purpose of spying on him to find out if the rumours are true. However, once she gets to know him, she discovers it might not be that easy to betray the kingdom that has started to mean so much to her, and that saving her country might end up breaking her heart.
This Bollywood-style royal romance takes you to an alternate East Indian world filled with skyships, saber duels, and lots of royal intrigues.
Personal comments on Third Daughter
I loved every part of this book. I was inspired by the way Aniri faced the difficulties and problems that were presented to her throughout the story. She always maintained a positive and proactive attitude and worked hard to fulfil her duty as a princess.
Besides, I really liked how she overcame her prejudices as she got to know the barbarian people. She learned their customs and traditions and found out they were not that different from those in Dharia.
