Book Review: The Viking, by Marti Talbott

Book review: The viking

Summary of the book

Stefan has always dreamed of boarding his father’s ship to take part in his first Viking raid. But the journey does not go as planned, and he soon finds himself stranded in Scotland, with nothing more than his father’s spear.

Kannak has her problems to deal with. After being abandoned by her father, the only way for her and her mother to survive is if she finds a husband who can tend the farm. When she meets Stefan, they agree to help each other and soon become best friends.

But a Viking like him is not supposed to be living in a Scottish clan. How long can Kannak hide the truth from the clan’s Laird?

Personal Comments

I couldn’t stop reading this book from the moment I opened it. I loved reading about Stefan’s and Kannak’s lives, and how they grew closer to each other as the years passed. The words they used to talk to one another were appropriate to the setting of the story, which made the plot more realistic. What I liked the most about this book is how it mixes adventure, history and romance.
